Political restraint in public communications was urged, alongside adherence to principal-speaker protocol during press conferences and media interactions.
Political restraint in public communications was urged after a social-media remark directed at Sunetra Pawar was criticised as ideologically irresponsible. It was stated that regret alone was insufficient and that leaders should exercise care in public comments. Press-conference protocol was also emphasised: the principal dignitary should respond to media questions, and those seated alongside should not participate in the interaction. Party colleagues were expected to act more responsibly in future media engagements.

Neutral monetary policy stance continues as inflation clarity is awaited, alongside cooperative banking and lending-rate transparency measures.
Monetary policy maintained the benchmark policy repo rate and a neutral stance pending clearer evidence that energy-cost pressures will generate broad-based inflation. Inflation is expected to rise temporarily due principally to food and fuel prices before moderating, while core inflation remains benign. The approach remains data-dependent, supported by two-way liquidity operations. Proposed measures include resuming urban cooperative bank licensing, revising rural cooperative bank credit-monitoring directions, and harmonising interest-rate regulation on advances across regulated entities to improve transparency and consumer protection.

Monetary policy maintained the repo rate at 5.25 per cent following a unanimous policy committee decision. The growth forecast for FY27 was marginally increased, while the inflation projection was lowered. Inflation conditions remain uncertain because of monsoon, El Nino and geopolitical developments. Liquidity remained in surplus, and external-sector indicators reflected a current-account surplus, buoyant foreign direct investment inflows, renewed foreign portfolio investment inflows, and adequate foreign-exchange reserves.

They are intended to improve durability, especially for lower-denomination notes with high circulation velocity. Monetary policy decisions will remain data-dependent and focused on aligning headline inflation with its medium-term target. Foreign Currency Non-Resident (Bank) scheme inflows are expected to remain healthy until closure, with no proposal for premature termination. Rupee management aims to maintain an orderly exchange-rate trajectory.

Fuel-price volatility mitigation will combine fiscal measures, consumer protection, energy security and fiscal sustainability during external energy shocks.
Fuel-price volatility is to be mitigated through fiscal and administrative measures that protect consumers while maintaining fiscal sustainability. The approach includes monitoring revenue and expenditure, reprioritising spending, and using fiscal measures when economic conditions require. Reduced central excise duty on petrol and diesel moderated the impact of elevated international crude prices and partly offset under-recoveries of public-sector oil marketing companies. Longer-term measures include revenue mobilisation, import diversification, Strategic Petroleum Reserves, cleaner fuels and energy efficiency.

Stock Market for Beginners: How to Start Investing Without Feeling Overwhelmed

What Is the Stock Market? The Stock market is a marketplace where investors buy and sell shares and other securities. When you purchase shares of a company, you own a small part of that business. The price of a share can rise or fall depending on factors such as company performance, economic conditions, investor sentiment and market demand. SEBI explains that securities markets broadly include primary and secondary markets, where new securities are issued in the primary market and existing securities are traded in the secondary market.

For a beginner, the important thing is not to understand every market term immediately. Think of investing like learning to drive: you don't need to become a Formula 1 driver before taking your first lesson. Start with the basics, understand the risks and gradually become more comfortable.

How the Stock Market Works When you buy shares, your order is placed through a stock broker and executed on a recognised exchange. The shares you purchase are then held electronically in your dematerialised securities account. There is no guarantee that an investment will make money, and NSE specifically highlights that share prices can fall significantly, including the possibility of losing the investment in a company that fails.

Primary and Secondary Markets The primary market is where companies issue securities to investors, such as through an IPO. The secondary market is where investors subsequently buy and sell securities among themselves through market infrastructure and brokers. Understanding this distinction helps beginners make sense of how shares enter the market and how they are later traded.

Why Should Beginners Consider Investing? Keeping money only in a savings account may not always be enough to meet long-term financial goals because inflation can reduce purchasing power over time. Investing gives your money an opportunity to participate in the growth of businesses and financial markets. However, investing is not a shortcut to quick wealth. Your approach should depend on your financial goals, time horizon and ability to tolerate losses.

A sensible beginner focuses on learning before earning. Instead of constantly looking for the next multibagger stock, concentrate on understanding businesses, diversification, valuation and risk. This mindset can help reduce emotional decisions when markets become volatile.

What You Need Before You Start Getting started is simpler than many beginners expect. According to SEBI, investors generally need a Demat Account, a trading or broking account with a SEBI-registered broker and a bank account for transactions.

Bank Account, Trading Account and Demat Account These accounts have different jobs. Your bank account handles your money, your trading account facilitates buying and selling securities, and your Demat Account holds securities electronically. NSE describes the trading account as a bridge between the bank and Demat accounts.

Understanding this three-part structure makes the investing process much less confusing.

What Is a Demat Account? A Demat Account is essentially a digital storage account for your investments. Instead of receiving physical share certificates, securities are maintained electronically. India has two recognised depositories, NSDL and CDSL, while investors typically access their services through Depository Participants.

SEBI also states that there is no minimum balance requirement for a Demat account and that investors have rights relating to account statements, charges and account management.

Choosing a Demat Account App A Demat Account App can make investing more convenient by bringing account opening, portfolio tracking, market information and order placement into one digital interface. However, beginners should look beyond attractive interfaces or promotional offers.

Check the broker's regulatory status, applicable brokerage and other charges, available investment products, security features, customer support and overall usability before choosing a platform.

How to Open a Demat Account Opening an account can now be completed digitally with many brokers. SEBI recognises online account opening processes involving information submission, document verification and video-based customer identification.

Typically, you will need identity and address documentation along with PAN and KYC information. NSE also recommends selecting a SEBI-registered broker before beginning the account-opening process.

Once your accounts are active, avoid rushing into your first purchase. Spend some time learning how orders, market prices, holdings and transaction costs work.

How Much Money Should a Beginner Invest? There is no universal amount that every beginner should invest. Start with money that you can afford to keep invested and potentially lose without disrupting essential expenses. Building an emergency fund and managing high-cost debt should generally come before taking significant investment risks.

You don't need a huge amount of capital to learn. A small, disciplined starting amount can teach you how markets behave without putting excessive pressure on your finances.

Investing vs Trading Investing and trading are not the same activity. Investing generally focuses on building wealth over a longer period by owning quality assets, while trading involves attempting to benefit from shorter-term price movements.

Beginners should be particularly careful about confusing market activity with investing skill. Frequent buying and selling can increase costs and emotional pressure. Start by understanding long-term investing before exploring more complex strategies.

How to Choose Your First Stock Don't choose a company simply because its share price is rising or because someone recommended it on social media. Study the company's business model, revenue, profitability, debt, competitive position and future growth prospects.

You should also understand why you are buying the stock. If you cannot explain what the company does and why you believe it can grow, you may not yet have enough information to invest confidently.

Common Stock Market Mistakes to Avoid Some of the biggest beginner mistakes are surprisingly simple: investing borrowed money, following rumours, chasing rapidly rising stocks, ignoring diversification and checking prices obsessively.

SEBI advises investors to understand applicable charges and fees, maintain relevant records, review their portfolios and make investment decisions according to their objectives and risk appetite.

The goal isn't to predict every market move. The goal is to develop a repeatable process that helps you make informed decisions.
