Wilful disobedience: civil contempt requires intentional, knowing non compliance and court finding of wilfulness before punishment follows.

Wilful disobedience denotes deliberate, voluntary, and knowing non compliance with a court's judgment, decree, direction, order, writ or other process; accidental, casual, involuntary acts or bona fide inability are excluded. In civil contempt proceedings the court must be satisfied, on all facts and circumstances, that the disobedience was wilful and intentional before imposing contempt consequences, and may decline to punish where compliance was rendered impossible by compelling circumstances.
