Manufacturer Seeks Warehouse Setup for Duty-Free Storage; Experts Advise Permissions and Separate Registration Under Excise Rules. A registered manufacturer under central excise rules inquired about creating a warehouse near their manufacturing premises to store raw materials and finished goods without paying duty. Two experts responded. The first advised seeking permission from the jurisdictional Commissioner of Central Excise. The second suggested obtaining permission from the jurisdictional authority and possibly registering the storage place separately. This would involve purchasing inputs in the new premises' name, availing CENVAT credit, sending materials to the manufacturing unit under job work challan, and conducting sales from the new location. Kindly seek permission from the  jurisdictional Commissioner of Central Excise in this regard.

Dear Ram,

You can seek for permission to store Inputs outside mfg premises from a Juridictional authority and they may allow you to do so by with guidance to some procedure to follow.

It is my suggestion that - if you want to store ALL material at Place other than your mfg unit, you can have registration for storage place - a) Purchase all inputs in new premises name (avail cenvat credit ) and send material to mfg unit under jobwork challan  get back finished goods b) Sales from new place.

Thanks
