Import concessions for life-saving drugs may require a medical practitioner certificate and adherence to notification procedures.
For personal import of life saving drugs a medical practitioner's certificate must be submitted to Customs to support medical necessity. Customs Notification No. 12/2012 (Lists 3 and 4) lists specific drugs eligible for concessional or nil duty and prescribes the procedure for personal import; applicability to commercial imports was queried but not answered in the discussion. (AI Summary)

You would have to submit a certificate from the Medical Practioner to the Customs Department in this regard that you are in need of such medicines.

please refer to the customs notification no. 12/2012 cus dated 17.03.2012 List 3 and List 4 wherein specific drugs are listed for import at concessional rate of duty / nil rate of duty.  For personal import the procedure is specified in the Notification itself.
