Installation Certificate

Guest

Dear Sirs,

We have imported a machinery under EPCG (basically it was second hand machinery) during 2007. Since the machinery is second hand, we are yet to source some critical spares as a result the machine is not installed so for. As per the provisions we have to submit the installation certificate within 6 months from the date of receipt. Though we have sufficient time to complete the EO, with regard to installation certificate what do we do now. We believe the installation will take place before this year end.

Kindly advise.

Guidance on Installation Certificates for EPCG Imports: Notify Delays to Excise Authority, Keep Records for License Redemption. A user inquired about the procedure for obtaining an installation certificate for second-hand machinery imported under EPCG in 2007, which has not been installed due to pending spare parts. The requirement is to submit the installation certificate within six months of receipt. A respondent advised that obtaining the installation certificate and completing the Export Obligation (EO) are separate issues. If installation is delayed, the user should notify the Excise Authority with reasons, and ensure the certificate is obtained and kept for record, to be submitted during the license redemption process.
