Time Limits for Filing CST Claims: Can Claims from 2007-08 Be Filed in December 2009? Refer to Para 9.3. A user inquired about the time limitations for lodging CST claims, specifically whether claims for the financial year 2007-08 could still be filed in December 2009, given past delays. The query referenced para 9.3 of the handbook of procedures, which allows for delayed claims. The response confirmed that while para 9.3 aims to prevent harassment due to delays, it does not provide a total time limit of two years. Instead, claims submitted after the prescribed time may be accepted with deductions from the eligible amount. (AI Summary)

Yes, you are correct, the intention of para 9.3 is to enable the eligible person from being harassed due to inadvertent delay in submitting the application. But, the pharase u use is requires to be modified to some extent like it is not a total time limit of 2 years since the application is admitted beyond prescribed time limit after a cut / deduction from the eligible amount.
