LLP - a subsidiary

DR.MARIAPPAN GOVINDARAJAN

Can a LLP be a subsidiary of a Private Limited Company?

LLP subsidiary status: a private limited company may hold an LLP as its subsidiary, subject to law. Whether a Limited Liability Partnership can be a subsidiary of a private limited company is the core question. One respondent takes the view that an LLP, having the essence of a private limited company, can be a subsidiary of a private limited company. A subsequent query asks whether the provisions of the Companies Act are applicable to LLPs, highlighting uncertainty about the statutory framework applicable when an LLP is treated as a company subsidiary.
