Service Tax Payment Error: Wrong Code Used, Jurisdictional Authority Can Correct It, No Harm Expected per Case Law. An individual mistakenly used the wrong code for a service tax payment, entering the SB Cess Code instead of the intended Other Receipts Code. A respondent advised writing to the Jurisdictional Authority to request the payment be applied correctly, as they have the authority to address such errors. Another respondent reassured that this mistake would not cause harm, citing a supportive case law from the Gujarat High Court. The discussion involved clarifications and expressions of gratitude for the assistance provided. (AI Summary)

Sir, though the payment codes are for statistical purpose the meaning of payment in to specific account has a meaning. You have committed an error and in my view you should write a letter to your Jurisdictional Authority requesting to consider your payment as the payment which you intend to pay. They only have the Authority to consider your request. Thanks.

Sh.Ganeshan Kalyani,Sir is right. But do not worry at all. No harm will be done to you because of this mistake. There is case law for convincing to your jurisdictional Range Officer.
