Import against Advance Authorization under FTP

Sir,

I have following queries regarding import against Advance Authorization under Foreign Trade Policy:

1)Can an Authorization where EODC has been received and subsequently Bond/BG has been closed at the Cutoms, be revived? If Yes, How? If No, Is there any specific provision in this regard?

2) Can we avail an advance authorization specifically for import of spares?If yes, kindly explain the procedure.

3)Where has been term 'Mandatory Spares' defined ?

Pl. find the answeres to your quries as detailed below :

1. Once the EODC issued by DGFT and the Bond and BG cancelled you cannot revive the Authorization

2. Yes, you can obtain a licence exclusively for spares . You may please refer the EPCG Scheme under chapter 5

of FTP

3. I do not think the term is defined in FTP. However, for your clarity pl. refer chapter 9 of FTP ( Definitions)

Advance Authorization is available for all products which has got SION norms. SION norms are mentioned in DGFT website. If you don't find SION norms for your product, DGFT norms committee will prepare ad hoc norms for you.

Let me reiterate my question.Can I avail the facility of Advacne Authorization ony for spares.

FTP says that I can avail duty free import of 10% of CIF value of authorization.I want to import only spares, so am I eligible to avail the failcity of Advance Authorization only for spares.

DGFT never issue separate Advance Authorization for importing spares.

you can import Spares 10% in case of EPCG Authorization. please alos note that Spares pertaining to your capital goods which you had Imported under the EPCG authorization only.

Dear Deepak,

There is no provision for importing spares under Advance Authorization except under EPCG. However, the 10% provision of CIF value according to me would cover, fuel , catalysts etc., . You may refer the provision once again and take a call accordingly.
