Exporters Must Seek One-Time Stuffing Permission from Customs, Not Central Excise, per Customs Circulars A new manufacturer and exporter of home textile products inquired about obtaining factory stuffing permission from Central Excise. Responses clarified that exporters must secure a one-time stuffing permission from the relevant customs authority, not Central Excise, as per customs circulars. The Central Excise officers handle the examination, stuffing, and sealing of export goods upon request, based on the permission granted by the Commissioner of Customs. The process involves notifying the jurisdictional Superintendent/Inspector of Central Excise in advance. The discussion emphasized that the Central Excise office does not issue stuffing permissions, which are managed by customs. (AI Summary)
