input tax credit

Input tax credit requires a proper tax invoice; retail invoices do not qualify for VAT input tax credit claims.
Input tax credit under VAT/CST is not available on retail invoices; entitlement exists only when the recipient holds a proper tax invoice issued in the form required by the tax law, and retail-style bills or receipts do not satisfy the documentary prerequisites for claiming credit. (AI Summary)

Is there any case law under VAT where ITC can be taken on the basis of Retail invoice
