Excise Duty Changes Questioned: Interim Budget by Current Government; Final Budget by New Government After Elections. A query was raised about the implementation of changes in excise duty following the budget announcement on 28-02-2014, coinciding with the election period. The concern was whether any duty changes would take effect on 01-03-2014 or after the new budget in July 2014. One response indicated that the Finance Minister would not declare the budget on 28-02-2014, implying it would be presented by the new government. Another response clarified that the existing government would announce an interim budget, with the final budget to be presented by the newly elected government. (AI Summary)
