Rebate of excise duty on exports to Nepal is permissible even when payment is received in Indian rupees; FEMA directions exempt transactions in Indian rupees with residents and branches in Nepal and Bhutan from certain exchange control prohibitions, and administrative customs/central excise circulars confirm allowance of rebate claims irrespective of payment currency for documented exports.
