Task Force on Innovation to assess and recommend measures strengthening India's innovation ecosystem and improve Global Innovation Index ranking.
A Task Force on Innovation is constituted to strengthen India's innovation ecosystem and improve its Global Innovation Index ranking by soliciting public suggestions via crowdsourcing. Membership includes industry, academic and government representatives with DIPP provision of logistics, conference facilities and secretarial support. The Terms of Reference direct assessment of India's innovation position, review of GII challenges, consideration of public ideas, evaluation of university contributions, and formulation of recommendations. Outstation members will receive domestic TA/DA for meetings. The Task Force must submit its report to DIPP within two months of formation.

Statutory licensing: communication to the public under section 31D covers internet broadcasting organizations and similar digital broadcasts.
Section 31D's statutory licensing covers broadcasters who engage in communication to the public, defined to include making works available by any means of display or diffusion and simultaneous transmission to multiple households. Read with that definition, "any broadcasting organization desirous of communicating to the public" is not limited to radio or television, and therefore internet broadcasting organizations are included within the scope of section 31D.

Name substitution in industrial order: mill entry amended to a private limited company in the Schedule.
Under powers conferred by Section 18G of the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951, S.O. 2895(E) dated 5 September 2016 amends S.O. 1371(E) by substituting, in the Schedule at paragraph 2(1) against serial number 77, the name "M/s. Surya Chandra Paper Mills Limited" with "M/s.Surya Chandra Paper Mills Private Limited."

Newsprint control amendment adds a paper mill to the authorized manufacture schedule under statutory authority upon Gazette publication.
Amending the Newsprint Control Order, 2004 under statutory authority, the Central Government inserts a new serial entry in the Schedule naming a specific paper mill and its location as an authorized newsprint manufacturing unit; the Newsprint Control (Amendment) Order, 2016 takes effect on publication in the official Gazette and references the principal 2004 Order and prior amendments.

The Central Government, under section 18G of the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951, amends the Newsprint Control Order, 2004 by inserting a new serial entry in the Schedule (item 4) adding M/s. Sripathi Paper & Boards Pvt. Ltd., Unit I, Anaikuttam Post, Sivakasi, Virudhvnagar, Tamil Nadu. The Newsprint Control (Amendment) Order, 2016 is effective on publication in the Official Gazette and expands the Schedule of permitted mills without modifying other terms of the principal order.
