How to check Import or Export policy for any particular product I choose for EXIM ?

Kishan Barai
Check Indian Trade Portal for Import/Export Policies Using HS Code; Most Products Free, Some Restricted or Prohibited. To check the import or export policy for a specific product, visit the Indian Trade Portal. Enter the product's HS Code, choose the import or export tab, and select a similar product and country. If products are marked 'Free,' only an IEC code is needed for export. 'Restricted' products require additional licenses, while 'Prohibited' products cannot be traded. Most products are free for export. For further assistance, the ICEGATE website can also be consulted. (AI Summary)

You may like to visit Indian Trade Portal to get information on Import Duty and Free Trade Agreements.

http://www.indiantradeportal.in

Import

Step.1 You may like to enter your product HS Code and click on the find tab.
Step.2 You may click on the import tab.
Step.3 Check the product description and select a product similar and click on the next tab.
Step.4 Select a country for your imports and click on the next tab.

Export

Step.1 You may like to enter your product HS Code and click on the find tab.
Step.2 You may click on the Export tab.
Step.3 Check the product description and select a product similar and click on the next tab.
Step.4 Select a country for your Export and click on the next tab.

If you follow above steps you will find product policy.

If you find the products are mentioned as 'Free' then only IEC code is enough for exports.

If you find the products are mentioned as 'Restricted' then another licence like RCMC, Drug Licence, Pollution Control board, BIS Certification would be required, it would be mentioned.

&

If you find that your products are marked as 'prohibited' in policy then you could not trade such items.

But most products are termed as FREE for exports, so No Worries in it!!!

Moreover, we can also check the product Export-Import Policy via https://www.icegate.gov.in
