Standards set net-to-net input norms and kV-based formulas for Class IV lightning/surge arrestors; importers must match inputs to exports
Standard input-output norms for Class IV lightning/surge arrestors set under the Foreign Trade Policy prescribe net-to-net treatment and specific input formulas and conversion factors per kV rating for tubular porcelain bushings, aluminium ingots, metal oxide varistors (and constituent inputs), and binders/glass frit. Quantities are defined by mathematical ratios (e.g., kV Γ constant or kV divided by varistor rating) and kilogram- or gram-per-kV multipliers for metal oxides, metals, polymers and additives. The norms require importers to ensure imported inputs correspond to those actually used or required in the exported arrestor products.
