<h1>Foreign Trade Policy Update: Importer-Exporter Code Now Fully Digital, Annual Updates Required to Avoid Deactivation.</h1> The notification amends provisions related to the Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) in Chapters 1 and 2 of the Foreign Trade Policy 2015-2020. It mandates that IEC, required for import/export activities in India, be issued electronically. The application process for IEC and its updates is fully online via the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) portal. IEC holders must update their details annually between April and June; failure to do so will result in deactivation. New sub-paragraphs have been added, and certain previous provisions have been deleted. The changes are approved by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
