R&D Tyres Exempt from BIS Marking Under Quality (Control) Order 2009; Distinct Serial Codes Assigned for Identification &D
The Office Memorandum from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry addresses the Quality (Control) Order, 2009 concerning pneumatic tyres and tubes for automotive vehicles. It specifies that tyres imported or manufactured for Research & Development (R&D) are exempt from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) marking. To identify these R&D tyres, the first 150 tyres or the required number for R&D in each size will be embossed with a distinctive serial code (RD-1 to RD-150). These tyres will not require the mandatory BIS marking as per the Quality (Control) Order.
