India Revises Import Duty Rates: Changes for Raisins, Coal, and Chemicals; Exemptions for Solar Cells and Security Paper
The Government of India has issued amendments to Notification No. 12/2012-Customs, originally dated March 17, 2012, which prescribes the effective rate of duty on the import of various goods. These amendments include changes in duty rates for specific items such as dark seedless raisins, crude glycerin, rice bran, dolomite, limestone, coking coal, anthracite coal, and several chemicals and materials used in manufacturing processes. Certain goods, including those used in the manufacture of soaps, solar photovoltaic cells, and security paper, have been exempted from duty. The amendments also introduce new conditions for exemptions, particularly for liquefied natural gas and goods imported for specific purposes by government and security forces.
