Summary: The relevant market comprises the relevant product market and the relevant geographic market; these components guide assessment of anti competitive agreements, abuse of dominant position and combinations. The Commission must consider enumerated factors when determining appreciable adverse effect on competition (barriers to entry, foreclosure, consumer benefits, improvements, promotion of development), dominance (size, market share, economic power, vertical integration, entry barriers, countervailing power, market structure) and market definition (regulatory barriers, transport costs, consumer preferences, product characteristics, in house exclusion). Merger review requires analysis of market concentration, substitutes, vertical integration and whether benefits outweigh adverse impacts.

Summary: Constitutional validity of provisions establishing the National Company Law Tribunal and Appellate Tribunal was affirmed, but statutory provisions allowing appointment of civil servants at the level of Joint Secretary as technical members and the prescribed selection committee composition were invalidated; technical member appointments must follow the seniority and selection directions of the earlier binding judgment, and final selection authority with casting vote is to rest with the Chairperson or nominee.

Summary: The Reserve Bank of India publishes an official Reference Rate for the US dollar and, using that rate together with middle rates of cross currency quotes, announces corresponding rupee exchange rates for euro, pound sterling and Japanese yen; the SDR Rupee rate is stated to be based on the published reference rate.
Summary: The Act charges tax on total undisclosed foreign income and the fair market value of undisclosed assets located outside India, computed without deductions or set offs; a voluntary declaration window allows payment of tax and an equal penalty on declared assets with prescribed filing and payment formalities, after which declared amounts are not admissible evidence in most penalty or prosecution proceedings and may be excluded from net wealth subject to conditions.
