DGCA Confirms A320 Software Fixes After Solar Radiation Risk Alerts, Issues Airworthiness Directive on Flight-Control Safety
India's aviation regulator DGCA confirmed completion of mandated software upgrades on 323 operational Airbus A320-family aircraft operated by three Indian airlines, following global safety alerts from Airbus and EASA about possible corruption of critical flight-control data due to intense solar radiation. Initially, 338 aircraft were identified; 6 remain under base maintenance and 9 in one carrier's fleet were later found not to require modification. IndiGo upgraded 200 aircraft, Air India 100, and Air India Express 23, with additional aircraft under maintenance. DGCA issued an Airworthiness Directive requiring immediate compliance, including installation of serviceable Elevator Aileron Computers where needed.
