Homegrown nonprofit wins 2025 Ramon Magsaysay Award for returning over 2 million girls to school, scaling remedial learning
A domestic non-profit has been named a 2025 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee, marking the first Indian organization to receive the honor for a community-driven model that returned more than 2 million girls to school and delivered remedial learning to over 2.4 million children. Founded in 2007, the organization mobilized over 55,000 volunteers, operates across tens of thousands of villages in partnership with government initiatives, and aims to reach 10 million learners within a decade. The award recognizes efforts to combat cultural stereotyping and expand girls' access to education; formal presentation is scheduled for 7 November 2025.
