Another project involves a silicon carbide semiconductor plant with strategic applications in defense and aerospace, supported by a US defense contractor, producing 96 million chips annually. Additional facilities include a chip packaging plant in Andhra Pradesh and a semiconductor unit in Punjab, with respective capacities of 96 million and 158 million units per year. These projects aim to increase domestic production of electronic components from 20% to 30%, enhancing the local semiconductor ecosystem. The government also highlighted growth in electronics manufacturing and exports, ongoing talent development, and research initiatives, positioning the country as a growing hub in the global semiconductor industry.
