Karnataka CM Urges Central Government to Establish SCSP-TSP Act for Better SC/ST Welfare Fund Allocation
Karnataka Chief Minister proposed passing a resolution urging the central government to establish a Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan and Tribal Sub-Plan (SCSP-TSP) Act, similar to those in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. He highlighted that despite SC/ST communities comprising 25.2% of India's population, only 2.87% of the central budget is allocated for their welfare. Karnataka's SCSP-TSP Act mandates spending proportional to the SC/ST population. The CM noted that Rs 39,121 crore is allocated for SCSP-TSP in the current fiscal year, with Rs 42,018 crore planned for the next. He criticized the previous BJP government for underspending allocated funds.
