Previously, they were district cadre employees. The change means that the appointing and disciplinary authority for naib tehsildars will be the additional chief secretary, principal secretary, and secretary, while for patwaris and kanungos, it will be the director of land records. Seniority and recruitment processes will continue under existing rules until new recruitment rules are established.
