The operation involved the recovery of two tusks weighing 6.8 kg, hidden in a bag with suspects in an auto rickshaw. This action was part of DRI's enhanced efforts under the amended Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, effective April 2023, to combat wildlife trafficking. In the fiscal year 2023-2024, DRI conducted six successful tusk seizures across India, totaling 57.5 kg, showcasing their dedication to curbing illegal wildlife trade.
