<h1>Union Budget 2023-24: National Calamity Contingent Duty on Cigarettes Raised by 16%, First Hike in Three Years.</h1> The Union Budget 2023-24 proposes a 16% increase in the National Calamity Contingent Duty (NCCD) on specified cigarettes, marking the first revision in three years. Effective February 2, 2023, the duty rates per 1,000 sticks will rise as follows: non-filter cigarettes up to 65 mm from Rs 200 to Rs 230, and those exceeding 65 mm but not 70 mm from Rs 250 to Rs 290. Filter cigarettes up to 65 mm will increase from Rs 440 to Rs 510, and those exceeding 70 mm but not 75 mm from Rs 545 to Rs 630. Other cigarettes will see a rise from Rs 735 to Rs 850, and tobacco substitute cigarettes from Rs 600 to Rs 690.
