While presenting the Union Budget 2023-24 in Parliament today, Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt Nirmala Sitharaman proposed to revise National Calamity Contingent Duty (NCCD) on specified cigarettes upwards by about 16 percent.

The NCCD on specified cigarettes was last revised three years ago.

National Calamity Contingent Duty increase on specified cigarettes announced, raising per thousand stick excise rates effective from the budget. National Calamity Contingent Duty is proposed to increase by about sixteen percent in Budget 2023-24, effective from the Budget date. The change revises per thousand stick excise/NCCD rates across specified cigarette categories-non filter and filter cigarettes by length bands, an 'other cigarettes' category, and cigarettes of tobacco substitutes-superseding rates last revised three years earlier.Press 'Enter' after typing page number.
