<h1>GST Council Announces New Return System Rollout; Large Taxpayers to File Monthly from Oct 2019, Annual Return Deadline Extended.</h1> The 35th GST Council Meeting, chaired by the Union Finance Minister, introduced changes to the GST law and procedures. A phased rollout of the new return system was announced, starting with a trial period from July to September 2019. Large taxpayers must file FORM GST ANX-1 monthly from October 2019, while small taxpayers will file quarterly. FORM GSTR-3B will be phased out by January 2020. Deadlines for annual returns and reconciliation statements have been extended to August 31, 2019. Amendments to GST laws and adjustments to e-way bill rules and other filing deadlines were also discussed.
