Between April 2014 and January 2015, exports grew by 14.04% compared to the same period the previous year. To further boost exports, the leather sector is included in the Make-in-India program, with initiatives for scaling up finished leather availability, skilled manpower, and technology. Measures under the Foreign Trade Policy include duty credit scrips, duty-free import entitlements, and recognition of key towns for export excellence, supported by various government schemes.
