The government has updated the list of authorized officers responsible for food import clearance under the Food Safety Standards Act, 2006 and related regulations. Additional authorized officers, including FSSAI officials and customs personnel such as superintendents, appraisers, inspectors, and examiners, have been designated at six new points of entry, expanding the existing 159 points to a total of 165. These points cover various ports, airports, land customs stations, and special economic zones across multiple states. The notification modifies previous instructions and requests relevant authorities to inform and sensitize officers under their jurisdiction. The updated list specifies the authorized officers at each point of entry to ensure compliance with food safety standards during import procedures. Any difficulties encountered are to be reported to the governing board for resolution.
