Service Tax revised date Effective date

The Service Tax has been revised from 10% to 12% please confirm from which date it is effective.

also can anyone share the notification.

It is not notification No. 3/2012 but 2/2012 by which earlier Notification No 8/2009 reducing service tax rate from 12% to 10% has been rescinded. Since notification is effective from 01/04/2012, revised rates apply from 01/04/2012

The Rate of Service Tax is restored to the statutory rate of 12%. same as goods vide Notification No. 2/2012,dt 17/03/2012 and Notification No 8/2009 dt. February 24,2009 has beeb rescinded effeective April 1, 2012.

Yes. It is effective from 01-04-2012.

Had this been by amendments in the relevant section, this would have been applicable with effect from date of enactment of finance bill and not from 01/4/2012.That is why we are calling it restoration of previous ratesby way of withdrawl of exemptionnotification.
