Company Explores Options for Utilizing Over 3 Crore in Excess Cenvat Credit; Considers LTU Registration for Credit Transfer A company with multiple units is seeking advice on utilizing accumulated duty credits, specifically from a unit in Surat with over 3 crore in excess Cenvat credit. They are considering options like rebate claims or refunds. A respondent suggests registering as a Large Tax Payer Unit (LTU), which would allow the transfer of unutilized credits between units using a transfer challan. This would facilitate the liquidation of Cenvat credits and enable the transfer of capital goods within the group at a nil duty rate. Until then, rebate or refund remains their primary option.
