Cenvat credit on capital goods: claimable only after registration; pre-registration goods may be claimed once production starts. The Cenvat Credit on capital goods is available only after registration. Where capital goods were received prior to registration, the assessee should apply for registration, intimate the jurisdictional excise department of the facts, and may avail the credit after registration upon commencement of commercial production of the finished goods. You can avail the Cenvat Credit only after Registration.

If you have received the CG prior to Registration, then you may apply for registration and give intimation to the jurisdiction excise department stating the facts and can avail the cenvat credit of these CG after commencing the commercial production of the desired finished goods.
