TDS - Date of Challan is Earlier then Date of Payment
TANGIRALA SUNDARA KUMAR
TDS timing rule: tax is chargeable on payment or credit, and deposited TDS with certificate supports credit in returns. TDS is chargeable at the earlier of payment or credit to the payee; this timing rule governs the tax point and deposit obligation. If the deductor has deposited the tax and issued a TDS certificate, the payee may claim credit in the return even if challan and payment dates appear mismatched; absent deposit or certificate, the payee should obtain evidence or rectification from the deductor to substantiate the claimed credit.
