Company Questions Service Tax on Clinical Research Course Fees; Exemptions Possible if Linked to Recognized University Certificates. A private limited company inquires about the applicability of service tax on education fees for a clinical research course. The course offers both full-time and part-time certificate options. One response clarifies that education for commercial purposes is subject to service tax under 'Commercial coaching and training service,' and the company must classify its services accordingly. Another response suggests that if the course certificates are awarded by a recognized university, the service tax may not apply. Additionally, there is a query about bifurcating fees into taxable and non-taxable components, such as tuition and material fees, to seek exemptions. (AI Summary)
