Registration

Ravikumar Doddi

Sir,

Without knowing 20 lakhs exemption dealer has taken GST registration and now he wants to cancel the registration and he wants to avail first β‚Ή 20-00 lakhs exemption and then he wants to take registration after crossing threshold limit. When once registration is taken he has to charge GST from single rupee is it correct through his turnover actually not exceeded threshold limit. pl clarify, thanks in advance

GST registration cancellation allowed; cancel if turnover below threshold and reapply after crossing threshold. A registered dealer may cancel GST registration at any time via the common portal if turnover is below the threshold exemption; after cancellation the dealer may apply afresh for registration upon crossing the threshold. While registration is active the dealer must charge GST from the first rupee of taxable turnover, making cancellation the procedural means to avoid charging GST until liability arises. (AI Summary)

Now you can get your registration cancelled at any time without waiting for the end of a financial year. The facility is available on common portal system. You may apply afresh for registration when you cross threshold exemption limit. No problem in this procedure as explained by you.

Registration number can be cancelled if turnover is below the threshold limit.
