rent a cab

Ramakrishnan Seshadri

DEar Sir

We are hires buses and vans for transporting our staff towards pick up and drop to our factory from their point.

Our question what is the gst rate to be charged by the transporters.

Some transporters saying they will charge 18% . what it is correct 5% or 18%

Please clarify.

Thanks & Regards,

S.Ramakrishnan

Confusion over GST rates resolved: 5% without ITC, 12% with ITC for staff transportation services. 18% is incorrect. A user inquired about the applicable GST rate for hiring buses and vans for staff transportation, with conflicting information from transporters suggesting either 5% or 18%. Responses clarified that the GST rate is typically 5% for transportation services when input tax credit (ITC) is not availed, and 12% if ITC is availed. It was noted that 18% is incorrect. Additionally, specific conditions under which different rates apply were mentioned, such as the type of vehicle and service. The discussion referenced a GST Council meeting and a relevant notification for further clarification. (AI Summary)
