GST Rate on Tamarind

Rajendra m

can any one please give clarity on tamarind GST Rate

Tamarind has Two HSN codes

Tamarind Fresh 08109020

Tamarind Dried 08134010

why TWO HSN codes alloted to tamarind?

GST classification: clarity sought on differing HSN codes for fresh versus dried tamarind and processed product treatment. GST classification issue concerns two HSN codes for fresh and dried tamarind, raising whether fresh tamarind is treated as a fruit and dried tamarind under a different agricultural heading; contributors note the GST Council should provide authoritative clarification and stress uncertainty over whether processed tamarind products (pulp, powder, paste) change tax classification and applicable GST treatment. In my view this question can be answered by GST Council alone.

I got little clarity for your Query. I just wanna share it with you.

Fresh tamarind is what we use for Tamarind Chutney (It is classified as fruit) and

Dried tamarind is what we use in cooking (Curries like Dhal etc....).

Sir,

What is difference between Tamarind Fresh and Tamarind Dry and how much is the GST slab.

thank u.

Mayur Khania on Jun 16, 2017

There is no difference between Fresh tamarind and DRY Tamarind. It is Confusing tamarind is Fruit, If tamarind is process convert into powder or paste then we say it is process.

What is clarification on this problem.

Thank u.

Sir

First of all its confusing part, Now a days there are 2 type of tamarind used in household purpose i.e. first full tamarind without skin (it can be with seed and without seed) used in household purpose and as now a days fast foods is in use many have been extracting tamarind in pulp and powder format

please rectify
