Can Additional Duty Credit Offset Excise Duty on Local Sales? Refer to Rule 3 of Cenvat Credit Rules, 2004. An individual inquired about using additional duty credit from their CENVAT account to offset excise duty on finished goods sold locally. They sought confirmation and relevant notifications or circulars. Two responses were provided: one suggested referring to Rule 3 of the Cenvat Credit Rules, 2004, while the other clarified that only the credit for Countervailing Duty (CVD) is permissible for such use.
