Exporter Eligible for MEIS Benefits if Declaration of Intent Included; Recent Amendments Simplify Claim Process with 'Y' Selection. A manufacturer-exporter inquired about eligibility for the Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS) benefits when exporting finished goods processed from imports under advance authorization. Respondents confirmed eligibility, provided the exporter includes a declaration of intent in the export invoice and shipping bill. One respondent noted that according to a recent amendment, selecting 'Y' in the system during the filing process suffices for claiming MEIS benefits without a mandatory declaration. The discussion emphasized the importance of proper documentation to avail of the incentives. (AI Summary)

Dear kamalji,

you can availed the benifit of MEIS, but you should have to mention following declaration in your export invoice that

We intend to claim rewards under Merchandise Exports From India Scheme

According to the latest amendment through Notification even if no declaration of intent to avail the MEIS benefit buy the Y is opted/ticked in the system while filing the information in the S/B, it would be sufficient.

CSSANJAY MALHOTRA on Jun 24, 2016

MEIS is available even if the clearances of Exports are against Advance Authorization, subject to same being declared in Shipping Bill as stated by Mr. Mukund. wherever Y has been mentioned in Reward Column in S/Bill, declaration is not mandatory, right mentioned by M/s Yagay & Sun.
