WHO CAN PAY CENTRAL EXCISE

NILAM THORAT

who can pay central excise. whos libale for excise duty pay?

what the exemption of central excise ?

Excise duty liability falls on the manufacturer, payable at removal and passed to buyers, subject to statutory exemptions. Central excise duty is imposed on the manufacture of excisable goods and is payable by the manufacturer at the time of removal from factory premises; the manufacturer is liable to pay and ordinarily collects the duty from buyers, while specified exemptions and reliefs (such as schemes for small scale industries, SEZs, EOUs and area based exemptions) relieve eligible producers from duty under prescribed conditions. Central Excise duty is on manufacture of excisable goods but for exemption granted under various notifications. Duty is to be paid by manufacturer at the time of removal from the factory premises. Ultimately the burden of Central Excise duty is borne by the consumers. As per Central Excise law, a manufacturer is liable to pay duty. He will collect from his buyers. There are exemption schemes e.g. Small Scale Industries exemption scheme, exemption from CE duty to SEZ units, 100 % Export Oriented Units, Area base exemption schemes in J & K, HP, Uttarakhand etc.
