SBI Cheque Issue

Kishan Barai

Recently my Nani wanted to withdrew 20,000 INR from her bank account in SBI, so she gave me 'self cheque'.

As her age is 65+ so she told me to withdrew for her, I went to bank & bank cashier told me NO

he told me that bank can not issue money to 3ed party. Bank manager was not there in SBI, I also show ID proof of my Nani (ADDHAR + VOTER ID) + there was a signature of her.

Can a cashier refuse me to pay me cash for self cheque ??

What is a solution of it ?? My nani will never visit bank as her age does not support her.

Navigating Self Cheque Limits: Why a Debit Card May Be Better for Withdrawals Over 20,000 INR An individual sought advice on withdrawing 20,000 INR from their elderly relative's SBI account using a 'self cheque.' The bank cashier refused as the cheque holder was not present. A respondent explained that self cheques are for account holders only and suggested using a bearer cheque instead. However, concerns about taxation and branch location complications arose. It was advised to obtain a debit card for easier transactions, as using an ATM would bypass these issues. The discussion highlighted the need for careful handling of banking instruments and the limitations of self cheques for third-party withdrawals. (AI Summary)
