Clarification Sought on Invoice vs. Delivery Challan Dates for VAT on Non-Excisable Garments; Guidelines Needed. A discussion on a forum addresses a query about discrepancies between invoice and delivery challan dates for a company manufacturing ready-made garments, which are exempt from excise duty under a specific notification. The initial query seeks clarification on whether the procedure of issuing an excise invoice after delivery is correct. A response notes that non-excisable goods like garments do not require an excise invoice, but under VAT, goods should be moved with an invoice unless otherwise specified. Another participant asks where to find guidelines and a list of items that can be moved with a delivery challan. (AI Summary)
