Customs Extends Self-Sealing and Certification for Non-Excisable Agricultural Exports; Port Checks Remain for Misdeclaration Risks.
The circular from the Central Board of Excise and Customs, dated July 23, 2009, addresses the export of non-excisable agricultural products. Exporters requested the extension of self-sealing and self-certification facilities to expedite exports of perishable goods. The Board examined the request and decided to extend these facilities, allowing export goods to be removed from factories based on self-certification and self-sealing. However, these goods will still be subject to examination at the port of export under prescribed norms, except when there is intelligence or information about mis-declaration or concealment. The trade and industry sectors are informed accordingly.
