Issues: Whether the cancellation of the employee's G Card could survive after cancellation of the Customs House Agent's licence.
Analysis: Regulation 20 of the Customs House Agents Licensing Regulations, 1984 permits a Customs House Agent to employ persons to assist in CHA work only with the prescribed approval, and the identity card in Form G is issued to such an employee for that limited role. Once the CHA licence itself stands cancelled, and that cancellation has already been upheld, the employee ceases to have the necessary nexus with the CHA. In that situation, the identity card does not stand independently and follows the fate of the principal licence as a consequential matter.
Conclusion: The cancellation of the G Card was valid and stood upheld.
