Regulation 7: Procedures for Re-Entering Goods into India via Customs Station and Handling Compromised Locks Explained
Regulation 7 of the Transportation of Goods (Through Foreign Territory) Regulations, 2020, outlines procedures for handling goods re-entering India at a customs station. The customs officer checks the integrity of the customs one-time-lock. If intact, the officer endorses the Customs Transit Declaration and clears the goods. If the lock is compromised, the officer verifies the goods against the declaration. Any discrepancies are reported to the exit station. The consignor or carrier must submit the endorsed declaration as proof of re-entry within three months, extendable by six months. Electronic confirmation of arrival may eliminate the need for physical submission.
