A public sector company may apply, with prescribed fees, for a stay of demand pending an appeal; the Authority hears both parties and may grant an initial limited stay, must dispose of the appeal within that stay, may extend the stay if delay is not attributable to the company, but the initial and extended periods together are subject to an overall statutory maximum, and failure by the Authority to decide within the allowed period causes the stay to be vacated.
