Peninsula Pharma Research Center Private Limited in Goa proposed to establish a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Biotechnology at Sancoale Tal-Mormugao, under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. The Central Government confirmed that all necessary requirements were met and issued a letter of approval on October 25, 2006, for the development, operation, and maintenance of this SEZ. Consequently, the government officially notified the area, comprising 20.365 hectares at Survey No. 97/1, as a Special Economic Zone in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Act and the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006.
