India Imposes Anti-Dumping Duties on Chinese Saccharin Imports to Protect Domestic Industry; Effective Until June 2012.
The Government of India has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of saccharin from the People's Republic of China. Following investigations, authorities concluded that saccharin was being imported below its normal value, causing material injury to the domestic industry. As a result, duties ranging from USD 717.21 to USD 2151.33 per metric ton have been levied on various producers and exporters from China. These duties, effective from June 6, 2006, are to be paid in Indian currency and will remain in force until June 5, 2012, unless revoked earlier. The exchange rate for duty calculation will be determined on the bill of entry presentation date.
