of <h1>Govt Sets 8.6% Annual Interest Rate for Public Provident Fund Subscriptions Effective December 1, 2011, u/s 5.</h1> The Central Government has issued a notification under section 5 of the Public Provident Fund Act, 1968, stating that subscriptions to the fund made on or after December 1, 2011, will earn an annual interest rate of 8.6 percent. This applies to both new subscriptions and existing balances at the credit of the subscriber.
